Biography

Ibrahim Elbasyoni joined KAUST during the last quarter of 2022. His research is focused on functional phenomics to measure an extensive range of traits under open-field conditions to enhance plant production by improving selection accuracy. Specifically, he intends to use novel approaches to integrate phenomics, genomics, and enviromics to predict verities performance in the near future. He will devote a proportion of his research on root phenomics to uncover the importance of root proteome and environment-specific root expression in plant breeding. Moreover, he is also interested in using newly developed nondestructive analytic methods for early-generation selection to expedite the breeding process for end-use quality.
