Research Scientist
Dr.Nahed Mohammed is a plant genomics researcher at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, specializing in the application of advanced sequencing technologies to address challenges in agriculture and biodiversity conservation. She joined KAUST in 2019 as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Desert Agriculture, and currently works in the Plant Breeding and Genetics Group led by Jesse Poland.
She develops genomic tools for crop improvement, including date palm, by leveraging high-throughput sequencing, genomic selection, and high-throughput phenotyping, alongside optimizing DNA extraction protocols for challenging samples such as sesame, date palm seeds, and red palm weevil (RPW). Her work bridges fundamental genomics with applied breeding to enhance resilience and productivity in arid environments.
